Those of you who remember Melissa and Steven’s engagement session know that these two are more than just clients to James and I, they are our dear friends. I’ve known Melissa since what seems like forever, and we even managed to end up in quite a few cities together since first meeting in our hometown as elementary school kids. Because of that Mel and I have seen each other through quite a few relationships and a decent amount of drama associated with them (to say the least… haha). So when Mel first told me about Steven and I saw the way she lit up talking about him & telling me what a great guy he was – I knew something was different this time. There was no drama, no heart ache… just my friend, the happiest I’ve ever seen her. And lucky for us, these two decided to move to Chicago together from Atlanta shortly after.
Over their time in the city with us we got to know them as a couple. I saw that Mel and Steven do not have the flashy kind of love that needs to be shouted from rooftops and thrown in people’s faces. No, they have a quiet kind of love… the kind they both feel at their core and know without having to say a word. It’s in the way Mel looks at him with that glimmer in her eye. It’s in the way Steven teases her and always makes her smile. It’s in the way they lift each other up and support one another even in the toughest times. It is in the way they’ve made a home together no matter what city they ended up in.
So it was no surprise that when they decided to get married they wanted it to be an intimate affair, surrounded by their loved ones in Punta Cana… relaxing, taking in the sunshine, and enjoying life together. It was the most laid-back and perfect day – with Mel and Steven’s love at the center of it all.
Mel and Steven ~ It was such an honor that you brought us to Punta Cana to be a part of your day – documenting this next chapter in your love story. You two are the best kind of people and we are so, so blessed to call you our friends. I can only hope these pictures do your day justice and bring you back to that beautiful day each time you look back on them! And that those who weren’t able to make it can feel the love that emanated from you both on that sunny Tuesday in the Dominican Republic. We love you both so much!!! XOXO Christy & James
I could have photographed Mel all day!
I’m pretty much obsessed with this shot James captured below…
I don’t normally blog cake cutting photos – but I couldn’t help but post this one! Steven picked up such a giant piece to feed Melissa!! Her reaction is priceless! haha
Congratulations again you two!!! Wishing you all the happiness in the world! xoxo (Now, can we go back to Punta Cana please?! ;))
