Todays is my niece’s 2nd birthday! Yay!!! It’s hard to believe that this time last year Sunshine* was still in Ethiopia, where she celebrated her 1st birthday… while we were all back here, missing her so much, & praying that she would be coming home to meet us all soon!
Thankfully, this year was different – and we all got to head over to my sister’s house this past Sunday to celebrate Sunshine’s birthday with her present! 🙂

Now it’s finally time for the birthday song, which Sunshine clearly does not enjoy… “Why are all these people singing & staring at me?! Get me out of here mom!”
She was not interested in blowing out the candles either, so her older brother helped her out! 🙂
Littlest nephew has an obsession with my camera, and unbeknownst to me, snatched mine up and started taking photos. Here are a couple of my favorites… 🙂 ha ha

Any enthusiasm she lacked during the birthday song, she more than made up for while opening presents! I loved how she had to show everybody everything she got! Look! Look! Look! ha ha…
Oh – and her reaction to matchbox cars?! Priceless. She was STOKED! 🙂 (Note to self: get her this for a Christmas present!)
Once she got them out of the packaging – she had to walk around and hand them to each person to look at. I saw this moment between she and James and it made me ache for a little girl of our own for him to grin at like that! **sigh** Adorable.
It should be obvious that today I am thankful for my beautiful niece! She has brought so much joy and love to all of our lives even in the short 7 months since she’s been home with us. I am so excited to watch her continue to grow, and feel so blessed to have her in my life. 🙂

Sunshine is just a blog name I have for her in order to keep some amount of my sister’s family life/children private.
