So, this one time (last night)… I watched the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric in hopes of catching a glimpse of the first piece of a series I am going to be a part of. But then, after watching the entire show, I realized that it doesn’t actually start/air until tonight. Oops. (Duh Christy.)
You see – I was watching it hoping to get an idea of exactly how long these segments last (and therefore in turn, preparing myself for how long I will be sitting in my living room feeling incredibly self-conscious and awkward on Thursday night when my piece airs). I may or may not have had a minor panic attack while watching other segments throughout the programming last night, thinking… Dear lord – please let me not say/do something stupid. Please let there be some fabulous editing to make all of my sentence fragments during my interview magically seem like fluent, intelligent, full sentences. Please let me only be on air for 1 second and let me not say a word. Please let there not be snot running down my face and spit on my lips. (What? I’m paranoid about weird, random things, okay?)
I’m well aware that the segment will amount to possibly 30 seconds worth of a story (at most) – but that doesn’t stop me from freaking out/thinking about it/worrying about it constantly. It would probably help to ease my tension if I could see the piece before the rest of America does… But alas, I will be watching it right along with the rest of you, for the first time on Thursday night…. with a glass (or bottle, or two) of wine in hand. (ha ha! What?! You would be doing the same darn thing!)
Anyway – I guess this is my way of telling you the air date of the piece on CBS Evening News with Katie Couric (that was rescheduled due to some very important news occurring the Sunday before it was originally set to air) is now set to air this Thursday, May 12th at 5:30pm central time (assuming no more stories of the decade occur between now and then – ha!).
So, if you so choose… watch it. Or don’t. Because really… I’d be perfectly okay if nobody watched it. Ahem, just saying.
And because I can’t leave you without photos… a couple images from a time in my life when I used to enjoy being seen/heard by lots of people… (oh musical theater… *sigh*… haha)
(Image 1 circa 2000, playing Rosie in Bye Bye Birdie. Image 2 circa 1999, playing Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof. And for some crazy reason, I cut a lot of photos in my personal photo albums back in the day… why?! I don’t know. It drives me buggy now when I go back and they’re all chopped to bits into weird shapes! ha ha…)
