I was so excited when we received the initial inquiry from Elizabeth and Don because these two seemed to know two things: 1) how much much adore and love one another, and 2) that they were set on doing their wedding their way… and I LOVED that!!! They got ready together in a gorgeous West Loop loft. Elizabeth fixed Don’s hair, he zipped her dress… it was all so romantic. I loved the quiet ease they had together – helping one another and stealing sweet glances across the room. It was such a nice change of pace from what we are used to shooting at the start of a wedding day and was really fun to capture. From there their day unfolded with portraits in downtown Chicago where it almost felt like we had the place to ourselves (which is unheard of), followed by an intimate midday (no aisle, no processional or recessional) ceremony at University Club of Chicago, wrapped up with the most delicious lunch at Mercat with something like 14 different courses/plates!! Oh my gosh. So delicious and such a lovely, low-key way to celebrate into the afternoon with their families and closest friends.
Elizabeth + Don ~ Thank you so much for having us be a part of this beautifully intimate day! Your love is really such a beautiful thing and we are so honored to have gotten to document this next chapter in your stories. We adored your families and friends and felt so incredibly welcomed by you all!! We hope you love these photos as much as we loved capturing these memories for you!!! Sending all our love (and wondering if you could send some warmer weather back to Chicago for us too?!)! XOXO ~ Christy & James 🙂
Such a lovely and heartfelt day!!! XOXO
