I come from a really big family on my mom’s side (she has 8 siblings, who have 30 kids between them – most of whom are married with their own kids now) – so it’s safe to say our Thanksgiving is pretty bit too! This year we had 70 people who came to my parents’ home in small town Wisconsin and we were filled to the brim with tables in basically every room! 🙂
Each year we do a “Twohig Turkey Trot” race that our family started 18 years ago (I can’t believe it has been that long?!) where we run/walk/drink our way through 2 miles at 9am on Thanksgiving morning. Then we gather to eat Thanksgiving dinner around 1pm, nap, hang out and watch football afterwards… followed by a second round of leftovers around 6pm (obviously) – before we all head to the local bowling alleys to roll some thunder (and do some shots of kamikazes)! 🙂 It’s safe to say that this is the favorite holiday of a majority of our family because no matter what we all always come together for it. The traditions remain from year to year and I love so much that it is just focused around time with loved ones!! No presents, no pretense – just food, family & fun. 🙂
In order to be more present when I’m with our family and not working I’ve gotten back in the habit of shooting film photos so that I am forced to be more intentional with it (i.e. not shoot SO much) and that way I get the images back ready to go and don’t have piles of them sitting on harddrives forever that I never do anything with!
Anyway – all that is to say – I shot some photos at Thanksgiving of some of my favorite people on the planet! Here is a look at the love! (Minus James, who was stuck back in Chicago with strep throat!! Not cool!!)
