Ever since I posted my initial blog about our fertility struggles and had the HUGE response I did – much of which was from women who had gone through fertility treatments, or were in the midst of them – I’ve wanted to do more, but I didn’t know how or what to do. So instead I just listened. Anyone who wrote me to share their struggles – I listened. We commiserated, we shared where in the journey we were, and we promised to stay in touch and keep each other posted.
But I realized that it would be nearly impossible to keep up with everybody in the midst of … well… life.
And so yesterday it hit me – why I didn’t think of this before – I don’t know… but I want to create a private group on Facebook (the kind that is secret and doesn’t show up in people’s feeds randomly) for all these amazing women to come together and share their experiences & resources, to give advice, to listen, and to support each other. Somewhere where women who have kept this to themselves and not even told their closest friends and family can feel safe and accepted sharing their struggles and their victories. Somewhere where people will no longer feel alone.
I know there are forums out there for this same type of thing… but I wanted somewhere that was safe, but not necessarily anonymous. I wanted somewhere to see MY people. (Sorry to be selfish – but… it’s true.) A place where we use our real names, and our real FB profile pictures – where we may or may not know each other in real life… but we can share and support just the same (and maybe eventually see each other in real life?! who knows where this could lead!)
And so I plan to get this group started in the next day or so. Also – we’ve been brainstorming names (and have some pretty solid & hilarious suggestions) … but if you have any to add – please do! I’d rather this was a kick-ass name… maybe even funny or sarcastic… something that shows we don’t take ourselves too seriously and that life is still amazing and awesome through all this crap. Yes? 🙂
