They say dogs know best. (Or maybe just James and I say that…) But seriously, we live with the belief that dogs can inherently tell which people are good and which people are not so good. And this theory was confirmed when Chloe immediately fell head over paws in love with my mom upon meeting her. She insists on being ON TOP of her whenever she’s around, and wanders around the house crying whenever she leaves.
Basically – I’m pretty sure Chloe knows good people when she meets them… because as we all already knew – my mom is ‘good people.’ Very good people. And Chloe agrees. 🙂
We’re heading home for the weekend to celebrate Mother’s Day with my family, and I can’t wait! I’ll be working a bit while we’re up there (mother’s day mini sessions – yeah!), but mostly I’m looking forward to a low-key weekend in Wisconsin celebrating a woman who inspires me every day to be the best person I can be. She teaches through example, and is someone who has always put her family and loved ones at the top of her list. She immediately took James in as her own, and I can’t even begin to tell you how wonderful it is to witness. My mom is a truly amazing woman and I feel so, so blessed to have her. She has been one of my best friends for my entire life. I have gone to her with my stories and secrets since I was young, and continue to do so as an adult. I forget sometimes that this is not necessarily the ‘norm’ as things go with mothers and daughters. And when I see others who are not so close to their mothers – I’m reminded of just how rare it is, and how truly blessed I am to have such a supportive, understanding, and loving woman not only to call my ‘Mom’, but to call my friend.
Mom – I love you so much and I hope you know how much I appreciate everything you do for not only your family – but for all those whose lives you’ve touched over the years. You are truly an inspiration. Love you!!!
And here’s a video to prove just how much Chloe loves my mom (the woman who has never owned a dog, and wouldn’t necessarily claim herself to be a ‘dog person’ – as you’ll see – but who is sweet to Chloe regardless)… 🙂
