It has been way too long since I’ve blogged anything since Instagram has slowly taken over my life and our blog… so I thought I’d take some time to share some of my favorite film images from Chicago weddings lately because a full page view is so much better than scrolling these on your tiny phone screen!
I have been so happy integrating film back into our wedding work the past few years after always using it for personal work & trips, as well as boudoir, newborn and select family sessions for over two decades now. I used to feel like it was too much to bring along on a wedding day with so many cameras and having to change rolls, etc. – but my love for film and the way it captures light and the fleeting moments has taken over and so here we are (though my wallet and my back would beg to differ that this is a good idea)! haha
When clients ask how we handle film vs. digital on wedding days I often explain it like an ice cream sundae… the digital work is the bulk of our coverage (the ice cream) and the film work is the sprinkles & cherry on top. It adds a beautiful nostalgia and artistic touch that cannot be replicated on digital, and perfectly compliments the other coverage of your day.
Our film work is shot on a mix of vintage film cameras, including a Mamiya 645, Contax T2, Holga, and Canon EOS 1V. All developed and scanned by Richard Photo Lab.
