I am so glad I randomly answered the phone on a Sunday night a week ago (I normally am not in practice of answering unknown numbers, especially after 5pm) – but this was apparently meant to be, because it was Javon on the other line looking to make an impromptu trip to Chicago THE NEXT DAY to propose to his girlfriend, who was visiting Chicago from NYC (where they both live) for work and grad school visits! We surprisingly had the evening open, found a sitter last minute – and the rest was history! 😉
This was seriously one of the best proposals ever – because who expects their boyfriend to show up in a city you are away visiting for work?! Laura thought she was meeting an old college friend to network with some of her coworkers at a park where they were supposedly shooting a segment (her friend works in TV). Except when she arrived, she found Javon standing there – dressed in a suit, holding the biggest bouquet of flowers I’ve ever seen!!
Her face when she started to realize it was him was a mix of utter confusion, shock, joy and then obviously – so many happy tears!! It was the SWEETEST thing to witness and we loved every minute of this super surprise proposal!!!
