This may be one of my favorite proposals we’ve ever been a part of!! I kind of can’t believe how it went off without a hitch and Taylor’s reaction was absolute PERFECTION! She had everyone in the area (including me and total strangers that were passing by) CRYING!! Like – for real crying.
Travis and Taylor came up from Texas for a weekend in Chicago (where, obviously, Travis planned to propose to his love)! Travis came up with the idea to ask James to snap a photo of the two of them at a picturesque spot along the river walk, and then I suggested we offer to use our “real cameras” (that we had out taking photos of one another when they approached us… under the guise that we were actual photographers but on vacation from out of town! haha) so that we could get a better photo for them and email it to them to have! 🙂 Anyway – amazingly – Taylor completely went for it and even said, “We trust you guys to take our photo because you have those big fancy cameras!” before Travis handed me his cell phone to take a photo. I used my best high school acting skills to suggest I use my real camera to get them a better photo because the light was being “weird” and Taylor happily obliged. Woo hoo!
Next up – Travis had to dig the ring out of his cowboy boot (oh Texans ;-)) before we could start the shoot and have him drop to one knee. The best part was that Taylor had no idea what he was doing fixing his shoe and was totally mortified that these “nice strangers on vacation” had to wait for him to dig around in his boot before we could take their photo. hahaha. Her face during this time was HILARIOUS. It only took a minute though and she realized what was happening and it was AMAZING!!
Even better – not only was the proposal a surprise – but Travis had both sets of their parents fly up from Houston for the big moment!! They were watching from Wacker Drive sidewalk and started to yell shortly after the proposal and Taylor’s reaction/face was classic. They ran to each other and embraced and like I said – they had everyone in the surrounding area crying!!
