James and I were extra nervous going into this proposal because Nic asked that we remain a secret so that he could later surprise Kate with the photos!! Usually we remain hidden until it is pretty obvious the gig is up (i.e. the proposal has happened) and then take celebratory images afterwards of the couple & some detail shots of the ring! In this instance we had to document the proposal but not let Kate have a clue that we were documenting it the entire time! Seriously paparazzi style this time, friends!!
Thankfully it all went off without a hitch and Kate said YES and promised to spend the rest of her life with Nic on a beautiful winter day at dusk along the Chicago River. Here is how it all went down!!! (Also – crazy side note – a few of our former brides & bridesmaids know these two but we had no idea about that going into this!! We only realized it after I posted some pics to Instagram!! Small world!!)
