I cannot believe these two used-to-be teeny tiny babies are now walking, talking (kind of), and officially ONE YEAR old!! As I’m sure most parents do – I felt a combination of joy and nostalgia (with a few tears) at the fact that our little guys are one. I truly can’t believe how quickly this year has flown by and I’m thankful for every single second with my little family. This is a really big milestone and honestly, the first thing I think is:
WE. MADE. IT.
Whew!!! I’m not going to lie – there were moments in those early months where James and I were not in the best place together, but thankfully we both put down our heads and did the work to get to where we are now. Our motto was “one day at a time” and that’s really how we lived. There wasn’t much sleep this past year, but oh my gosh – there were SO MANY SMILES. Our cheeks hurt at the end of every day – I’m not even kidding – and that’s thanks to these two little buddies!! I have so many posts in my cue that I need to write and share with you all, but for now I just really wanted to get up some photos from their birthday weekend!
We had a small, low key party on Saturday with family and a few friends and it was perfect. I’m not big on the whole giant “theme party” thing (maybe just because I’m lazy (haha), or maybe because we never grew up doing anything really over the top for our birthdays, but they were still the best)!! Anyway, I was shopping at Target a couple of weeks ago and saw the dollar section had St. Patrick’s Day decorations and given the fact that I always used lucky four leaf clover emojis to represent each of the boys when I was pregnant, it only felt right to snag the four leaf clover decor for their party!! One of the window decals also included two rainbows in its pack and you know I had to get it for our two rainbow babies!! Talk about perfect!
Anyway – without further ado – I want to share a few photos from Micah and Gabe’s first birthday weekend!! I didn’t shoot nearly as much as I thought I would (mostly because I was busy hosting, and also trying to be present in the moment with our boys) – but here’s a peek at some of our weekend! Enjoy!!
Hmmmm…. what. to. do…
Gabie smelled the cupcake and very cautiously licked it… and that was it! Otherwise he wouldn’t touch it! (A big surprise considering he’s our “eat anything you put in front of me” guy!)
Meanwhile, you can see Micah had no reservations… shockingly – since he’s usually our pickier eater!
The sweetest!! And even though they were not all cheesy grins in these pics – I swear they were loving all the excitement!! 🙂
Happy Monday, everybody! xoxo
