Any real mixologists or bartenders out there might be shaking their head at me right now because a true Negroni is made with gin, Campari, sweet vermouth, and a twist of orange… however, I love this twist on the classic! It is a bit lighter and more refreshing… not to mention relatively low-calorie as far as cocktails go! And using the Aperol instead of Campari makes it a bit smoother of a drink (for me anyway!) because is a little more sweet, less bitter, and has tasty citrus notes compared to the more bitter (& stronger) Campari.
I don’t know about you guys – but I am itching for spring to get here and I’m channeling that in this bright and tasty springtime cocktail!
Friends – I give you the Grapefruit Negroni Fizz!!
1 ounce gin
1/2 ounce Aperol
4 teaspoons fresh squeezed grapefruit juice
2 teaspoons fresh squeezed lemon juice
1 ounce citrus-flavored sparkling water (we love the one pictured – which you can find at Whole Foods)
Grapefruit twist
1. Combine first 5 ingredients in a glass over ice.
2. Stir.
3. Add grapefruit twist.
4. Enjoy!
Cheers to the weekend, friends!! See you back here on Monday! xoxo
