I’m so excited to share this session (really, sessionS) with you guys because we were able to get the best of both worlds for this fabulous couple! I’ve been so looking forward to working with Jennie and Jim ever since Jennie first emailed and told me that she was referred to me by her good friend, Ashley (who we all know I love!!) – so I just knew I’d love these two as well!!
The original date set for Jennie and Jim’s shoot was this past Sunday, which was an unseasonably warm and beautiful day all over the city… that is… everywhere but downtown – where the three of us learned upon driving in for the session at museum campus that it was about 10 degrees colder than everywhere else and COVERED in a dense, dense fog that only became worse as the sun went down.
I’ve always secretly wanted to shoot in fog, so I was pretty stoked to finally get the chance – and after all – we did all drive all the way downtown for the shoot, so we decided to stick it out and shoot away. I loved the resulting images (because seriously… these two look great no matter what the lighting conditions!!), but after hearing some of Jennie’s concerns during the shoot about how she was really looking forward to a bright spring-time shoot made up of those sun-kissed, golden-hour, sunset photos I’m always posting… I wasn’t sure she’d be totally happy with the resulting foggy images.
So I wasn’t at all surprised when I got an email from her the next day asking if we could maybe schedule a little mini-session just to snap some quick photos one of the days this week while the beautiful weather was here and the sun was shining. Of course I wanted to make sure she got the images she was dreaming of (and you know I can’t turn down a beautiful, beachy sunset session!!) – so we met up that very night for a quick 25 minute session at North Avenue Beach to round out their engagement gallery – and I’m SO GLAD we did! The weather was just perfect (other than the occasional crazy wind gust) – and the light was divine!
Jennie & Jim – I hope these photos are everything you hoped for! Enjoy! I can’t wait for your wedding this October!!
Jim did okay on her ring… don’t you think?! 😉
Ah! The fog!! Sooo romantic – I love it!
And then exactly 24 hours later at North Avenue Beach… sunshine and warmth! Yay!
Love Love Love!! I’m actually so happy we were able to shoot both nights! I love both the unique looks we got from the crazy Chicago weather… 🙂
Have a fabulous weekend everybody! We have an engagement shoot & some relaxation this weekend we’ll be taking advantage of before wedding season *officially* starts for us next weekend, and we go almost non-stop for the next 12 weeks!! See you Monday! xoxo!
