Fancy Dinner Double Date Night ~ Chicago Wedding Photographer

A few weeks ago James and I were invited by two of our good friends to join them for a double-date at a Naha – a delicious and fancy (at least for us) restaurant downtown. We didn’t have to consider it for long before saying HECK YES! We set the date for this past Tuesday (the night before our anniversary), because who better to kick off our anniversary celebration with than these two?! As soon as the plans were made – I couldn’t stop thinking about it!

James and I are definitely more the beer and burger type people than we are fancy restaurant people – but what girl doesn’t love an excuse to get dressed up with her love and head out for some delicious food (with wine pairings! oh yes!) and best of all – to do that with some awesome people we’re lucky enough to call our good friends.

We had such an amazing time, laughed probably much too loud for the quiet atmosphere of the restaurant (oops), and ate & drank to our hearts’ content. I can’t say enough about how thankful I am to have such amazing people in our lives that they actually treated us to such a fabulous pre-anniversary celebration. Who does that?!

It’s funny because that night after we were home, we were reminiscing about our wedding and the speech my dad gave – where he said that I’ve always managed to surround myself with really good people throughout my life. He spoke of my high school friends, and my college friends. Friends that came through whenever you need them, that always give more than they ask for, that have your best interests in mind, and are your ultimate cheerleaders through life. Anyway – we were talking about that speech and James said, “I thought about that tonight at dinner … how it’s still true… All these years after our wedding – you still surround yourself with really good people.”

I smiled and nodded back at him… thinking to myself how he was so right… and sending thanks to God for blessing us with such amazing people in our lives.

This may be the best Greek salad I’ve ever had! Oh my…

Lobster & potato gnocchi with seafood bisque drizzled on top. YES.

A ribeye and a filet. YES. (again.)

And the beautiful desserts! Pretty and tasty!

I may have officially been warmed up to fancy dinners in the city. The food and the drinks were SO GOOD. If you’re in the area, definitely check Naha out!

(**Thanks to Lauren and Gary for an amazing night, and to Lauren for taking these pictures of us that I love! 🙂 Love you two! xo!)
