Shaan + Katie ~ Harold Washington Library Wedding ~ Chicago Mehndi Celebration (Day 1)

I’m not sure where to even start with this entire wedding weekend post (yes, you heard me, wedding weekend, as in 3 – days – long)… except to tell you – I can’t believe James and I were lucky enough to be a part of such an amazing celebration!

I’ve said it a million times before and I’ll say it again – I love me some Katie and Shaan! When I first met these two at a little bar/pub in the South Loop almost a year ago now – I wanted them to be my friends immediately. (Lucky for me, they obliged. :)) They are both such welcoming, warm-hearted, straight-up GOOD people… you can’t help but love them right from the start. (Good people are hard to come by these days – you know?)

They are good to their friends, good to their family, and good to those they come in contact with even in passing. They are so good, in fact, that all these people were willing to spend an entire weekend with them – celebrating their love and the start of their new life together. It was truly amazing to see these two close-knit families come together to give their blessing to this fabulous couple. (I’m seriously getting all choked up thinking about it. Not to mention when I went through the photos! Goodness… SO. MUCH. LOVE.)

But I digress! I’m sure you all want to see just what I’m talking about, so let’s get to the pictures! Part 1 of this wedding weekend took place at the Harold Washington Library in downtown Chicago on Friday, September 9th. When James and I arrived at the venue – I couldn’t pick my jaw up from the ground. I’ve never seen anything like this before – and all I could think was “This isn’t even the wedding yet!!” (So forgive me if I have a few too many detail shots – I couldn’t help myself!)
